A hotel since 1938, the Royal Golf Hotel is an excellent four-star facility commanding magnificent views of the course and coastline from the restaurant and from many of its guestrooms. The hotel has seen some major recent refurbishments with all 22 bedrooms, the front entrance, bar and Conservatory all being transformed, Sit down for an informal lunch in the Conservatory overlooking the golf course and Dornoch Firth; or choose to dine in the main restaurant, where you can sample the best of local game, seafood, Scottish beef and Dornoch lamb. Offering country house living at its finest and set in forty acres of private grounds, the four-star Culloden House dates back to 1788 and stands on the original site of Culloden Castle, which was destroyed by fire in 1758. The main frame of the house is all that remains of the original castle, while the two wings were constructed using the original stone from the damaged castle walls. The public rooms at Culloden House boast chandeliers, marble fireplaces, ornate plasterwork and antiques, while its bedrooms are individually decorated and uphold the character of the house. The bedrooms range from opulent period suites and master rooms to contemporary standard rooms, each en-suite and equipped with all the expected facilities. The refined restaurant at the hotel offers an ever-changing five-course menu, prepared by Master Chef Michael Simpson using the finest Scottish produce, while to accompany the fine cuisine, guests may choose from over 120 wines and 30 malt whiskies.
